The physical difference
Inkjet systems eject controlled liquid-ink droplets through microscopic nozzles. Cartridge and refillable-tank designs are both inkjet systems; the supply format changes, but liquid ink and a printhead still create the image.
Laser systems use light to form an electrostatic pattern on an imaging surface. Toner particles are transferred and then bonded to the paper by the fuser. The process explains why supplies, warm-up behaviour, maintenance and suitable media differ.

For photographs or colour-rich creative media, inspect a suitable inkjet model's supported paper and colour workflow. For frequent text-heavy office batches, inspect a suitable laser model's speed, duty guidance and paper handling. For mixed work, compare multifunction inkjet, tank and colour-laser configurations against the same monthly workload rather than treating the technology label as the answer.
